  • About GTIS **Global Technical Infrastructure Services is a central team that engineers, develops and supports IT infrastructure of the bank.   • About BFS *BFS Global Network services provide Data Connectivity, Voice, Firewall and Core services and products to Barclay’s internal and external customers. The services offered by Connectivity are defined as a ‘multi cluster service’ and is aligned to Tier 1 criticality.

  • Overall purpose of role *The vacancy is for a Technical Infrastructure Specialist providing live systems support and project delivery to a number of Barclays Core Network environments. The role provides exposure to underlying platforms used to deliver, LAN/MAN/WAN, Secure Web access, DNS/DHCP/NTP and Load Balancing for the Banks application infrastructure and internal staff. • To complete all Infrastructure elements of Operations which require, LAN/MAN/WAN, Internet Web Access component, DNS/DHCP/NTP or Load Balancing. • React quickly and as necessary to live systems errors and service problems to minimise downtime and restore service. Key focus will be required upon identification of root cause and implementation of permanent fix. • Planning and implementation of BAU request changes, patching and maintenance activities in line with change management processes and governance. • Develop in self, knowledge and understanding of systems processes, infrastructure/service development process and specialist areas of technology - be responsible for own learning and development. • Take responsibility for completing tasks, focusing on requirements and planning to meet client needs, • To act as maintainer and team point of contact for the Core Networks estate from an asset and licence inventory perspective, ensuring that all items are documented in an appropriate repository (e.g. Asset Centre) and linked to assets/services outside of the team where appropriate.

  • Key Accountabilities *• Provides support and manages the Network LAN/WAN/MAN infrastructure layer, firewalls, LTM/GTM, NAC, Web proxy, DNS appliances for the Barclays managed estate. • Own the responsibility for supporting the global data network infrastructure component • Taking the lead in technical communication of major incidents • Ensures network accurate network infrastructure support documentation is maintained • Creates and maintains necessary capability, knowledge and skills • Keeps and updates knowledge of the bank's Infrastructure Products and Services current • Responsible for ensuring that the integrity and stability of the production data network is maintained. • Provides high level support for complex, business critical incidents. • Responsible for Incident, Problem and Change Management for critical and major issues and events • Works with regional and global counterparts, Project Managers and Service Managers for input and to understand influence new solutions and the on boarding of new services

  • Basic Qualifications/Skills *• 3 years of on Cisco routers/switches or equivalent experience and knowledge on Cisco routers/switches. • 3 years of experience supporting live enterprise network environments • 3 years of experience with Firewall technologies • 2 years of experience with Load Balancer technologies • 2 years of experience with Proxy, DNS and DHCP technologies

  • Preferred Qualifications/Skills *• Cisco CCNA Certified or equivalent knowledge and experience • Operation engineer experience within a banking or other financial sector domain
