Job Role Summary
Develop and support LIMS ecosystem (Laboratory Information Management System) with a strong background in programming skills, data analysis, and ability to drive improvements for approximately 1100 users. The position is primarily responsible for data collection, validation and storage of instrument and external data. Additionally, it requires supporting non-standard, laboratory or process control environments, lab instruments and is located in Clinton, New Jersey.
Primary Job Functions
Support existing LIMS subsystems, including testing and work requests. Deploy new versions as required, troubleshoot issues, develop, test and recommend solutions. In addition, build upon previous work to solve new and redefined business processes.
Develop and support analytical instrument automation and data collection using existing applications developed in-house and other new applications as necessary. Work with supervising Chemists and lab technicians responsible for the instrumentation. Interface with Infrastructure Ops group and trades to establish network connectivity to instruments and servers.
Chemical Inventory: Support annual physical inventory and other periodic on-demand inventories as required. Research, develop, and recommend new process/hardware/software to replace existing scanning solution. Work with Safety group responsible for regulatory compliance to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
Work with customers and computing staff on extracting ‘rich-content’ (aka XY, XYÝ’) data from laboratory instruments, external sources, and data archives and translate to the standard format. Append rich-content data to existing results. Move and reshape data to database for use by researchers
Observe company safety & security guidelines
Document all processes and procedures as needed and share findings with peers
Work with outside vendors as needed to resolve issues, test solutions, and implement fixes
Support of IT Audit activities
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science with focus on programming or a Computer Science degree with lab/research background.
Relevant professional experience or equivalent military service
Advanced database knowledge (SQL, Oracle) – defining, querying, stored procedures/packages, performance optimization, and troubleshooting
Advanced programming skills – VB.NET, Excel VBA macros, C#, TFS
Data parsing skills – extracting data from raw text files
Experience with MS Windows Communication Foundation, Windows Mobile Device Center, .NET framework (*3.5, 4.0, 4.5) and Windows OS concepts
Experience with lab instrument hardware and software (Agilent, ThermoFisher, Bruker, Varian etc.)
Familiarity with Biovia (aka Symyx, Accelrys) tools
Data communication concepts as RS-232 and TCP/IP used in instrument automation
NWA Quantity Analyst and core statistical concepts used for define data quality
Experience with WPF
